SimFoam is a free analysis software developed by the LMSPC laboratory (Laboratoire des Matériaux, surfaces et Procédés pour la Catalyse, UMR 7515-ECPM-UDS) for the simulation of the transport properties in an open cell-foam.
In the first step, the user inputs the intrinsic properties of both the solid and fluid phases. Next, based on 'Slim' or 'Fat' pentagonal dodecahedral geometry, the simulation gives the minimal and maximal theoretical values of the specific surface area, thermal effective conductivity, heat and mass transfer coefficients, tortuosity and pressure drop.
The results can be recorded before another simulation with a new set of parameters is entered.
